Role Details
The Senior Project Officers and Principal Policy Officers are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating projects and providing policy advice related to security and emergency management issues. While Senior Project Officers will have a particular area of focus (National and Protective Security, Emergency Management or Recovery), they may work across each domain from time to time and support the team’s operational activities when required.
Special Conditions
- The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department's Performance Management Program.
- The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- Out-of-hours work and interstate travel may be required, and there may be limitations on annual leave during the high risk disaster season.
- This role requires a National Criminal History check.
- These roles requires the ability for the incumbent to secure a National Security Clearance to Secret Level following appointment.
- All SERM staff are required to participate in the State Crisis Centre during exercises and incidents and be on the on-call roster for the State Crisis Centre and State Emergency Centre.
- Multiple roles available at the ASO6 and ASO7 classification levels.

About the Business
Security, Emergency and Recovery Management (SERM) provides leadership, advice and guidance for the State’s national security and emergency management governance and policy arrangements. SERM also guides the co-ordination and delivery of whole of Government recovery interventions across a disaster event. They support both the immediate operational and the longer-term considerations and consequences of the disaster event through recovery program planning.
SERM advises and supports the Premier through the Emergency Management Act 2004, supports the Chief Executive as Chair of the State Emergency Management Committee (SEMC), supports the SEMC in achieving their strategic directions and legislated requirements, is the custodian of the State Emergency Management Plan, represents South Australia on national committees and oversees the SA Government protective security policy.
